Manager Meghann says:
"I started with Alexandras in 2021 as Deputy Manager in the Truro branch. I had previously worked in the care sector, however, worked with young adults with Autism and behaviours that challenged. Before working in the care industry, I completed my A Levels and then studied Health and Social Care.
In 2022, I became the Manager of Truro. In February 2023, I relocated to the Penryn Branch and in April 2024 I became the Registered Manager. In 2024 I was awarded 'Registered Manager of the Year' at the Proud to Care awards, which I am really proud of and reflects how I treat my team and clients!
The Penryn branch opened actually opened in April 2018, covering home care in Falmouth and Penryn. We have expanded our surrounding areas to Mylor, Flushing, Constantine, Perranwell and Mawnan Smith.
I and the Penryn Branch are supported by a fantastic team made up of a Deputy, Admin, Team Leaders and Carers.
The Penryn Team offer flexible care packages with visit durations starting at 30 minutes up to 24-hour care. We can provide one or two carers during each visit depending on the support that you require.
Alongside personal care visits, we also offer social visits and can accompany you for a stroll along the seafront, shopping, lunch out or just sit and chat with a cup of coffee! "
CQC Comments:
"Staff were respectful and supported people to be as independent as possible."
Homecare.co.uk review for the Penryn team Jan 2021:
"I have been with Alexandras for nearly a year. The service I have received has been excellent. Your staff always presents themselves very well. From helping me dress and wash. food is prepared and light domestic duties. You are all amazing for taking the time to make me feel happy and cared for. Five stars from me." View on homecare.co.uk.
I joined Alexandra's back in 2015 when my first daughter was only 2 months old.
I decided to have a new start at a hospital using previous skills I had gained many years ago. I then seen an advert for an office admin (maternity cover) in Redruth where I originally started my caring career and decided to apply. I got the job and re-joined as the Redruth office admin!
The job for Deputy Manger then opened up and I applied as thought I would make a good Deputy Manager from the work I had already produced. I found out I got the Deputy Managers job and was over the moon! I'm excited to see what new experiences this job will bring me.
I've been working for Alexandras for 2 years. In September 2022 I was promoted to Team Leader and in Feb 2023 to Deputy Manager.
I used to work in the care profession and then had a break and went into retail.
When Covid happened I decided that now would be a better time than ever to go back to the caring profession.
I enjoy long walks, learning the guitar, reading and crafting activities.
I enjoy a job role with variety, that focuses on ensuring people receive the best care and support they need and empowering people to be as independent as possible. I have years of experience in the care and wellbeing industries.
Outside of work, my life revolves around my ten-year-old son and my two dogs and two cats, as well as slowly doing up my very old little house. My family all live many hours away, as I chose to make Cornwall my home 17 years ago. I enjoy writing poetry, getting out in nature, and hanging out with friends.
